Energy companies are offering rebates to their customers for recycling certain old appliances and they will pick up the appliance for proper recycling as well. Appliances must be in working order since the intention is to encourage citizens to upgrade to newer, more energy efficient models as well as responsibly dispose of their old appliances.

There are a number of places where you can properly dispose of single use, household alkaline batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, etc). East Windsor Township has been accepting single-use household alkaline batteries at its recycling and paper shredding events recently. Be sure to place a piece of tape over the positive terminal (the nub) to prevent short-circuiting.
Staples accepts a multitude of rechargeable and single-use batteries for recycling. Store management has the right to refuse to accept items that may pose a health or safety risk. They also accept a multitude of technology items for recycling (see Technology below).

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County Bike Exchange (BEX) is a volunteer-led enterprise that repairs donated bicycles and sells them at modest prices at its Ewing location in the Capitol Plaza shopping center. The shop is open to the public and features a variety of sizes of bicycles and price points, there is something for everyone. All proceeds from the sales of bikes benefit the the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County directly. Supporting the BEX helps to promote cycling for transportation and pleasure in the Mercer County community. BEX accepts donations of used bikes in any condition, their volunteers will refurbish and sell them.

You can also take your used bicycle, in any condition, to any of their participating local bike shop partners (such as the Bicycle Rack on Route 33 and Airport Road). Complete a donation form to request a receipt from the Boys & Girls Clubs for tax purposes.

🎃You may also visit the website HolidayLEDS to recycle Christmas lights and other holiday light strands any time of year. You will need to mail your light strands if you use this service.
